Senior Leadership
Our senior leadership team provides the guidance necessary to support and advance the laboratory's scientific mission. This includes setting lab policy and program direction and ensuring support and funding for Fermilab. This team ensures and oversees compliance with applicable DOE contract requirements, regulations, and laws and establishes and maintains excellent relationships with Fermilab stakeholders.
Norbert Holtkamp
Laboratory Director
Norbert Holtkamp is the Director of Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab). A distinguished leader in accelerator science and large-scale scientific infrastructure, Holtkamp leads execution of the laboratory’s mission, with oversight of its scientific programs and operational support systems. He brings decades of experience delivering complex, multi-institutional projects, strengthening laboratory performance, and advancing international scientific collaboration.
Patricia McBride
Interim Deputy Director for Science/Chief Research Officer
Patricia McBride is Fermilab's Interim Deputy Director for Science and Chief Research Officer. A particle physicist and distinguished scientist, she leads all areas of science at Fermilab. She is recognized for her leadership in high-energy physics and her longstanding contributions to the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at CERN's Large Hadron Collider, including serving as Spokesperson from 2022 to 2024.
Greg Stephens
Deputy Director for Operations/Chief Operating Officer
Greg Stephens is Fermilab's Deputy Director for Operations and Chief Operating Officer. Stephens plans, directs and oversees the activities of the lab's business functions to ensure integration, effectiveness and accountability in accordance with lab policy and DOE directives. He leads the lab’s safety, security, infrastructure, information technology, human resources, and communication organizations.
